Kashid is a beach town on the shores of the Arabian Sea, in the North Konkan region of Maharashtra, India.
It is located 30 km from Alibag and 135 km from Mumbai on the Alibag-Murud road.
Kashid is popular mainly because of its white sand, blue seas, green mountains, paddy fields, and rivulets. Kashid has a 3 km stretch of beach tucked in between two rocky hillocks with Casuarina groves all along the seashore.
How to Reach
Alibaug is close to Mandwa which can be an advantageous journey for people travelling from Mumbai, a ferry from Gateway of India till Mandwa.
And from there the bus will drop the you at Chondi which is 3 Km from Mandwa, it takes about 40 to 45 mins by ferry to reach Alibaug.
Activities at Kashid Beach
The Phansad wildlife Sanctuary is close to the beach so tourists can take a trip there before coming to the beach.
Adventurous water sports such as Jet ski, boat ride, a lot of inflated balloon rides, parasailing and Horse riding are the main activities in the Kashid Beach.
You can also do a little surfing during the non-monsoon months when the waves are 5-6 ft high. Venturing int the sea gets dangerous during monsoon months on account of high waves and hence should be avoided.
Attractions near the Kashid Beach
Colaba Fort is one of the many attractions close to the Kashid Beach, you should visit this fort only when the tide is low, because during high tide a part of it gets submerged under the water.
There is an entry fee for the fort but other than that it is open throughout the year.
Vikram Vinayak temple, Uma Maheshwari Temple and Balaji Temple are some famous temples nearby that tourists like to visit.
Murud Janjira is also another famous fort located nearby which was constructed by the Siddhis. There is also a village called Chaul with beautiful ancient churches and Buddhist caves.
Best Time to Visit
The beach is best enjoyed between Nov and Feb when the weather is pleasant. There are very few hotels nearby and one can avail accomodation at cottages set up by locals.
